How do I configure two or more SIP devices in a network
You have installed a second SIP device and now you're no longer able to make phone calls.
Today, all modern routers are designed to support connecting new devices automatically and simply as possible by using NAT and STUN. If manual configuration is required, you must make the following configuration changes to allow two SIP terminals on a network to operate behind one network router.
Configuring SIP endpoint:
Disable DHCP and assign a static IP address to both devices.
Ninja uses the default values as follows:
Port: 5060 / UDP (SIP registering)
Port: 8000 / UDP (RTP, audio)
Port: 60000 / UDP (RTP, video)
Port: 3478 / UDP (STUN)
With the settings menu item "Network setting" you are able to activate use of fixed (static) ports. Normally all ports are negotiated with the SIP provider automatically.
Then adjust the router to forward all required ports to the IP address of the computer running the Ninja softphone. You will find more details in the manual of your router.
For the second SIP device (another computer running Ninja or a hardware telephone) the SIP register port number must at least be greater by 2 in order not to interfere with SIP device 1. the same applies to the RTP ports.
For the device 2 we yield:
Port: 5062 / UDP (SIP registering)
Port: 8002 / UDP (RTP, audio)
Port: 60002 / UDP (RTP, video)
Port: 3478 / UDP (STUN)
Settings on your router:
Now activate port forwarding of the ports that you've previously selected to the respective IP address of the devices.
More than two SIP devices in a network:
If you want to use more than two SIP devices in a network with one router, proceed as described above by incrementing port numbers in the configuration menu of the respective device and configure the router to route traffic to the additional device(s).
